To begin this session, please read Philippians 2:5-11. Answers to this lesson are at the bottom of this post.

CHRIST IS ETERNAL

Christ existed before everything.   John 1:1 says of Jesus, “In the >> 1 <<, and the Word was with >> 2 <<, and the Word was >> 3 <<.” Christ has always existed with the Father and the Holy Spirit as God.

Christ is the creator of all humanity. In John 1:3 we read that Jesus, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit, together created mankind.

Christ is the Savior of the world. John 3:17 says “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be >> 4 << through him.”

CHRIST BECAME INCARNATE

Christ became man and lived as a man.  Philippians 2:7 says, “but emptied >> 5 <<, by taking the form of a servant, being found in human >> 6 <<.”

Christ revealed the Father.   John 1:18 says, “No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made Him >> 7 <<.”

CHRIST WAS SURRENDERED

He died on the cross.  Philippians 2:8 says of Jesus, “And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of >> 8 <<, even >> 9 << on a >> 10 <<.” He took our place, and died on the cross to save us.

He was separated from the Father when punished for our sins.  This is a mystery! When he bore all our sins on the cross, the Bible states in Mark 15:34 that Jesus cried out “My God, my God, why have you >> 11 << me?”

However, by his death, Jesus opened to us the way to get to God!

CHRIST IS EXALTED

Philippians 2:9

He arose!  Acts 2:32 (NIV) says, “God has >> 12 << this Jesus to >> 13 <<, and we are all witnesses of it.” God raised Jesus from the dead, as proof his sacrifice was fully accepted.

He is the only way to God.  1 Timothy 2:5 says, “For there is one God, and there is one >> 14 << between God and men, the man >> 15 <<.”

He is the giver of Life.  Jesus said in John 14:19 “Because I live, you also will >> 16 <<.”

CHRIST THE COMING KING

Read Philippians 2:9-11 and note the following . . .

Jesus came first as a weak baby. He was despised and rejected.  When He comes again, He will come with great power and glory!
